Pantone named Mocha Mousse the 2025 Color of the Year: The color is cited for its “sophisticated, earthy elegance” which is associated with “thoughtful indulgence”, “harmonious comfort”, and “feelings of contentment”.
Tagwalk, a Paris-based fashion search engine, added AI-powered trend prediction to its product offering: The company recently announced a new trend prediction dashboard which analyzes data from 400,000+ images and search patterns of 300,000+ users to provide unique insights and help brands “anticipate consumer preferences.”
Streetwear brand Denim Tears is partnering with EON to adopt digital ID tags for product authentication: EON’s digital ID technology will enable users to scan a QR code on-product to seamlessly authenticate the product and connect to resale partner StockX to ensure authentication in the resale process.
Red Antler, the agency behind many beloved next-Gen brands, released their 2025 State of Brand Report: The report is a “deep dive into the cultural forces shaping tomorrow” including the impact of AI on brand strategy and the need to address consumer fatigue. As Red Antler notes, some of the biggest takeaways for brands in 2025 are to “embrace randomness”, “own your authority”, “do a little less”, and “embody optimism”.
Paul Mescal is selling his Gladiator press wardrobe on Vinted: The initiative is in support of chairty and if all of the items are sold at full price a total of £3,545 will be donated to Pieta, an Irish suicide prevention charity. As The Guardian notes, “It is unconfirmed whether the clothes have been washed since the actor last wore them.” #lol
Speaking of Vinted… it was recently valued at $5 Billion: The resale platform, which nearly collapsed in 2016, managed to reinvent itself and catapult its way to a $5 billion valuation. While their top markets remain France and U.K., they plan to increase their presence in the U.S. next year.
Kim K and Skims CEO announced plans to open a Fifth Avenue flagship store: Kim K continues to take over the world with Skims. Her most recent North Face collaboration sold out online in five minutes. The brand plans to open a 6,570 square foot flagship retail store on Fifth Avenue in addition to 11 new stores also in the pipeline.
eBay returns as a headline sponsor of Love Island: All Stars Season 2: With interest in pre-owned items skyrocketing, eBay will be sending pre-loved fashion into the villa. Islanders will be dressed in secondhand outfits to encourage the ongoing buying and selling of pre-owned clothing. Apparently, since the summer 2024 Love Island season, searched for ‘pre-loved fashion’ increased by 400%+ on the platform with Gen Z leading the charge.
Hugo Boss announced an independent company called Eightyards for the recycling of surplus materials: Eightyards will launch operations in January 2025. The mission of Eightyards is to establish itself as one of the key facilitators for the recycling and reuse of surplus materials (e.g. fabrics) into various industries beyond fashion.
John Galliano leaves Maison Margiela after a decade at the iconic fashion house: The exit marks another big fashion departure to round out 2024. All eyes are on Galliano to see where the designer might go next, and on the fashion house to see who will take over.
Matthieu Blazy of Bottega Veneta will succeed Virginie Viard as artistic director at Chanel: Blazy is set to join Chanel by April 2025, and his debut collection will launch next September.
